Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) have developed a device called \u2018ARTSENS\u2019 to assess the health and age of blood vessels and thereby provide early screening for cardiovascular diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is ARTSENS?<\/b><\/h2>\n

ARTSENS <\/span>is a novel, non-invasive device to assess the health and age of blood vessels and thereby provide early screening for cardiovascular diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

Developed by:<\/b> Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre at IIT Madras.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Features: <\/b>The device <\/span>comprises pressure cuffs that need to be attached on the upper arm and thighs and a probe applied on the surface of the neck to detect the carotid artery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 It measures carotid artery stiffness, aortic pulse wave velocity and central blood pressure, all three being important markers of cardiovascular health.<\/span><\/p>\n
