The Delhi Tourism Department is all set to launch its much-awaited \u2018haunted walks\u2019 and the first destination is the Malcha Mahal.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Malcha Mahal?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Malcha Mahal is located in Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was built in 1325 by the then Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq and was, for long, used as a hunting lodge.<\/span><\/p>\n

It later became the residence of the descendants of the Nawab of Awadh. It is said that it came to be known as \u2018Wilayat Mahal\u2019 after Begum Wilayat Mahal of Awadh, who claimed that she was a member of the royal family of Oudh. She was given the palace by the government in 1985.<\/span><\/p>\n

The monument is not <\/span>Archaeological Survey of India(<\/span>ASI)-protected and, therefore, no attention was paid to it in all these years in order to conserve it.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2019, the Delhi government received a proposal from the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) to restore the Mahal.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
