\u201cCabinet approves City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0) from 2023 to 2027\u201d<\/b> published in\u00a0the PIB <\/b>on 31s<\/strong>t May 2023<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cCabinet nod for second phase of CITIIS programme\u201d<\/b> published in The Hindu <\/b>on 1s<\/strong>t June 2023<\/b><\/p>\n The Union Cabinet has approved the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0).<\/p>\n Aim<\/strong>: To support competitively selected projects, promoting circular economy with focus on integrated waste management at the city level, climate-oriented reform actions at the State level, and institutional strengthening and knowledge dissemination at the National level.<\/p>\n To leverage and scale up the learnings and successes of CITIIS 1.0.<\/p>\n Launched by<\/strong>: CITIIS 2.0 is conceived by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD), Kreditanstalt f\u00fcr Wiederaufbau (KfW), the European Union (EU), and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA).<\/p>\n Note<\/strong>: CITIIS 1.0 was launched jointly in 2018 by MoHUA, AFD, EU, and NIUA.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Duration<\/strong>: The program will run for a period of four years, i.e., from 2023 till 2027.<\/p>\n Components<\/strong>:<\/p>\n Component 1:<\/strong> Financial and technical support for developing projects focused on building climate resilience, adaptation and mitigation in up to 18 smart cities,<\/p>\n Component 2:<\/strong> The States will be provided support to (a) set-up\/strengthen their existing State climate centres\/ Climate cells\/ equivalents (b) create State and city level Climate Data Observatories (c) facilitate climate-data driven planning, develop climate action plans and (d) build capacities of municipal functionaries, and<\/p>\n Component 3:<\/strong> Interventions at all three levels; Centre, State and City to further climate governance in urban India<\/p>\n Significance<\/strong>:<\/p>\n -CITIIS 2.0 will supplement the climate actions of the Government through its ongoing National programs such as National Mission on Sustainable Habitat, AMRUT 2.0 and Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, etc.<\/p>\n -CITIIS 2.0 will also contribute positively to India\u2019s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) and Conference of the Parties (COP26) commitments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Source:\u00a0The post is based on the following articles \u201cCabinet approves City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0) from 2023 to 2027\u201d published in\u00a0the PIB on 31st May 2023 \u201cCabinet nod for second phase of CITIIS programme\u201d published in The Hindu on 1st June 2023 What is the News?
