Under this agreement, both nations have set a target of importing 10,000 MW of electricity from Nepal in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Focus on energy cooperation<\/strong>: A new pipeline will be constructed from Siliguri to Jhapa in eastern Nepal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other key agreements signed<\/strong>: These include <strong>a) <\/strong>An MoU for the development of Phukot Karnali Hydroelectric Project, <strong>b)<\/strong> A Project Development Agreement for the Lower Arun Hydroelectric Project, <strong>c) <\/strong>The revised Treaty of Transit under which Nepal will get to access to India\u2019s inland waterways. This is described as \u201conce in a generation\u201d pact by Nepal, and <strong>d)<\/strong> Agreement for the export of Nepal\u2019s hydropower to Bangladesh through Indian territory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other key developments<\/strong>: <strong>a)<\/strong> Inaugurated integrated checkposts (ICPs) at Nepalgunj in Nepal and Rupaidiha on the Indian side, <strong>b)<\/strong> Inaugurated a cargo train from Bathnaha in India to Nepal Customs Yard.
