{"id":247256,"date":"2023-06-09T19:56:17","date_gmt":"2023-06-09T14:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=247256"},"modified":"2023-06-09T19:56:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-09T14:26:17","slug":"one-world-one-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/one-world-one-health\/","title":{"rendered":"One World One Health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong> The post is based on the article <strong>\u201cOne World One Health\u201d<\/strong> published in <strong>The Times of India<\/strong> on\u00a09th June 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Syllabus:<\/strong> GS 2 \u2013 Issues associated with health<\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> This article discusses the current state of digital health and the potential it holds for transforming healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>Digital health is on the brink of disruptive technologies but lacks a standardized framework and global vision.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the status of digital health in India?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>India has seen transformative digital tools in public health, such as CoWIN and eSanjeevani, during pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CoWIN<\/strong> tracked vaccine logistics, registered people for vaccination, and generated digital certificates, democratizing the vaccination drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>eSanjeevani,<\/strong> a telemedicine platform, allowed online consultations with doctors from home, handling over 10 crore consultations.<\/p>\n<p>Other digital tools like <strong>Aarogya Setu and RT-PCR app<\/strong> informed policy and strengthened India&#8217;s Covid response.<\/p>\n<p>India is building a national digital health ecosystem \u2013 <strong>Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) <\/strong>\u2013 to exploit the potential of digital tools in public health. ABDM empowers patients to store and access medical records, share these with healthcare providers, and ensure treatment.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are the challenges to digital health?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>most transformative digital solutions are not easily accessible due to copyright regimes and proprietary systems.<\/p>\n<p>Digital public goods or open-source solutions exist. But there is no global governance framework for digital health that can ensure interoperability across systems and address concerns around data security and privacy.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What should be done?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>1) Converge scattered efforts into a global initiative on digital health and institutionalize a governance framework.<\/p>\n<p>2) Collaborate on a protocol for digital health, similar to what was done for the internet.<\/p>\n<p>3) Identify and scale up promising digital solutions as digital public goods.<\/p>\n<p>4) Involve all stakeholders and build trust for global exchange of health data.<\/p>\n<p>5) Find ways to fund such initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cOne World One Health\u201d published in The Times of India on\u00a09th June 2023.
