It is also aiding in spreading disinformation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During COVID-19, there were <\/span>numerous contradictory projections<\/span><\/b>. The country\u2019s <\/span>COVID-19 response<\/span><\/b> could have been <\/span>much stronger if the data is handled effectively. <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mahalanobis also encountered a <\/span>Big Data problem when his large-scale surveys yielded<\/span> lots of data.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>Mahalanobis persuaded the government and succeeded in procuring the <\/span>first two digital computers<\/span><\/b> of the country at his Indian Statistical Institute. It ushered in the<\/span> age of computers in India.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mahalanobis would have embraced the<\/strong> <\/span>power of A<\/span><\/b>I<\/strong> in <\/span>enhancing human productivity<\/span><\/b>. He could possibly be able to lead <\/span>Big Data analyses<\/span><\/b> considerably better than anybody else.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mahalanobis successfully introduced the revolutionary concept of <\/span>built-in cross-checks<\/span><\/b> into his surveys. These cross-checks can be<\/span> instrumental in regulating AI.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mahalanobis envisioned statistics as a new technology for increasing the <\/span>efficiency of human effort.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Even today, someone like Mahalanobis, could be the best person to <\/span>handle tons of data<\/span><\/b>.
