{"id":252227,"date":"2023-07-15T20:51:49","date_gmt":"2023-07-15T15:21:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=252227"},"modified":"2023-07-15T20:51:49","modified_gmt":"2023-07-15T15:21:49","slug":"govt-effort-on-to-curb-vector-borne-diseases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/govt-effort-on-to-curb-vector-borne-diseases\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt effort on to curb vector-borne diseases"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article<\/span><b> \u201cGovt effort on to curb vector-borne diseases\u00a0<\/b><b>\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published in <\/span><b>Livemint <\/b>on <b>15th July 2023<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union health ministry has sounded the alarm on a vector-borne disease outbreak with record rainfall in North India creating a favourable breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are Vector Borne Diseases?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vector-borne diseases are human illnesses caused by parasites, viruses and bacteria that are transmitted by vectors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year there are more than 700,000 deaths from diseases such as malaria, dengue, schistosomiasis, human African trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis and onchocerciasis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The burden of these diseases is highest in tropical and subtropical areas, and they disproportionately affect the poorest populations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2014, major outbreaks of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, yellow fever and Zika have afflicted populations, claimed lives, and overwhelmed health systems in many countries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other diseases such as Chikungunya, leishmaniasis and lymphatic filariasis cause chronic suffering, life-long morbidity, disability and occasional stigmatization.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are the steps the government is taking against vector borne diseases?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Government has issued advisories to states and Union Territories (UTs) to collaborate with the respective civic agencies and take prompt action against vector borne diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India has set ambitious goals to eliminate kala-azar by 2023 and eradicate malaria and lymphatic filariasis by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cGovt effort on to curb vector-borne diseases\u00a0\u201d published in Livemint on 15th July 2023 What is the News?
