These varieties have been developed by utilizing the local landraces and farmer\u2019s varieties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, to encourage biofortification amongst farming communities, Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) has started the Nutri-Sensitive Agricultural Resources and Innovations (NARI) programme for promoting family farming linking agriculture to n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">utrition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Government is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seeking the private sector\u2019s help to popularize the biofortified foods.The private industry wants separate branding of biofortified foods, similar to what has been done for \u201corganic\u201d products.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cBiofortified foods: Industry bats for separate branding\u201d \u00a0published in The Hindu Businessline on 19th July 2023.
