{"id":253372,"date":"2023-07-25T20:45:16","date_gmt":"2023-07-25T15:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=253372"},"modified":"2023-07-25T20:45:16","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T15:15:16","slug":"thirty-critical-minerals-list-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/thirty-critical-minerals-list-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Thirty Critical Minerals List Released"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article <\/span><b>\u201c<\/b><b>Thirty Critical Minerals List Released<\/b><b>\u201d\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in <\/span><b>PIB on 24th July 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Government of India has released a list of 30 critical minerals for India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are Critical Minerals?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are minerals that are essential for economic development and national security, and the lack of availability of these minerals or the concentration of extraction or processing in a few geographical locations could potentially lead to supply chain vulnerabilities and even disruption of supplies.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are the 30 critical minerals list released by the government of India?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 30 critical minerals are Antimony, Beryllium, Bismuth, Cobalt, Copper, Gallium, Germanium, Graphite, Hafnium, Indium, Lithium, Molybdenum, Niobium, Nickel, PGE, Phosphorous, Potash, REE, Rhenium, Silicon, Strontium, Tantalum, Tellurium, Tin, Titanium, Tungsten, Vanadium, Zirconium, Selenium and Cadmium.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are the other steps taken by the government of India for critical minerals?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Geological Survey of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an attached office of Ministry of Mines has carried out a G3 stage mineral exploration (fairly advanced) during Field Season 2020-21 and 2021-22 in <\/span><b>Salal-Haimna areas of Reasi district, Jammu &amp; Kashmir <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and estimated an inferred resource of 5.9 million tonnes of lithium ore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A joint venture company namely <\/span><b>Khanij Bidesh India Ltd. (KABIL)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been incorporated with the equity contribution from three Central Public Sector Enterprises namely, National Aluminum Company Ltd, Hindustan Copper Ltd and Mineral Exploration Company Ltd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 The objective of KABIL is to identify and acquire overseas mineral assets of critical &amp; strategic nature such as Lithium, Cobalt &amp; others so as to ensure supply side assurance. KABIL has engagements with countries like Argentina, Australia etc. to acquire critical &amp; strategic minerals assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India has recently been inducted into the <\/span><b>Mineral Security Partnership (MSP),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a US-led collaboration of 14 countries that aims to catalyze public and private investment in critical mineral supply chains globally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cThirty Critical Minerals List Released\u201d\u00a0 published in PIB on 24th July 2023.
