The earth had passed from a warming phase into an \u201cera of global boiling\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How climate change is leading to extreme weather patterns?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>July is set to be the hottest month in the last 12,000 years.\u00a0 As per Scientists from the<strong> WMO and the European Commission\u2019s Copernicus Climate Change Service<\/strong>, conditions in July <strong>were \u201crather remarkable and unprecedented\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Average July temperature has been 16.95\u00b0 Celsius. It is 0.2\u00b0 C warmer than in July 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ocean temperatures<\/strong> are increasing and the <strong>Central Equatorial Pacific Ocean<\/strong> is transitioning from <strong>La Ni\u00f1a to El Ni\u00f1o conditions<\/strong>. So, it was widely anticipated that temperatures would be warmer than in the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>But, the <strong>distribution and impact<\/strong> of the recorded 16.95\u00b0C temperature was unexpected. It resulted in <strong>extreme weather events<\/strong> such as <strong>northwest China experiencing temperatures<\/strong> as high as 52\u00b0C, <strong>wildfires breaking out in Greece<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The unusually heavy rains in north and western India were influenced by the warm air increasing the atmosphere&#8217;s capacity to hold moisture. This led to intense, <strong>short torrential bursts of rain, floods and significant devastation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How can climate change be tackled effectively?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As per UN secretary General, there is a need for <strong>dramatic, immediate climate action.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s largest economies should adopt more<strong> ambitious emission cuts. <\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How will these events impact India?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There will be greater pressure on India for <strong>greenhouse gas mitigation responsibilities<\/strong>.
