{"id":254133,"date":"2023-07-31T20:58:20","date_gmt":"2023-07-31T15:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=254133"},"modified":"2023-07-31T20:58:20","modified_gmt":"2023-07-31T15:28:20","slug":"education-minister-launches-the-mobile-application-of-ullas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/education-minister-launches-the-mobile-application-of-ullas\/","title":{"rendered":"Education Minister launches the mobile application of ULLAS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article <\/span><b>\u201c<\/b><b>Education Minister <\/b><b>launches the mobile application of ULLAS\u201d\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in <\/span><b>PIB on 30th July 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union Minister of Education has launched the mobile application of ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram on the occasion of three years of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the ULLAS Initiative?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>ULLAS stands for <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To revolutionize education and literacy across India by fostering a learning ecosystem that reaches every individual, bridging the gaps in basic literacy and critical life skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 To impart basic education, digital and financial literacy and critical life skills to citizens aged 15 and above who lost the opportunity to go to school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Focus areas:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will focus on promoting functional literacy, vocational skills, and many important life skills like financial literacy, legal literacy, digital literacy, and empowerment of citizens to involve in nation-building of the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Implementation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">operates through volunteerism. It encourages volunteers to participate as DUTY or Kartavya Bodh towards nation-building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Student volunteers will be incentivised with credits in school\/university and appreciation through certificates, letters of appreciation, felicitation, among other means.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Significance: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to government data, as many as 12.5 lakh students are out of school in the year 2022-23 with the number of boys greater than girls.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 The ULLAS initiative has the potential to bring these students back to learning by providing them with an open source learning platform.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cEducation Minister launches the mobile application of ULLAS\u201d\u00a0 published in PIB on 30th July 2023.
