It is a <\/span><b>UNESCO Natural World Heritage <\/b><strong>sit<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>e<\/strong>, a tiger reserve and a biosphere reserve.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manas is located at the foothills of the <\/span><b>Eastern Himalayas.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Origin of name:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The name of the park originated from the Manas River. The Manas river is a major tributary of Brahmaputra River, which passes through the heart of the national park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shares a common border with the <\/span><b>Royal Manas National Park of Bhutan.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Vegetation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The monsoon forests of Manas lie in the Brahmaputra Valley semi-evergreen forests ecoregion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 The combination of Sub-Himalayan Bhabar Terai region with riverine succession leading up to the Himalayan subtropical broadleaf forests makes it one of the richest biodiversity areas in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Park is home to many endangered species like Assam roofed turtle, golden Langur, hispid hare, and pygmy hog. It is also famous for its wild water buffaloes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Village:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There is only one forest village, <\/span><b>Pagrang, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the core of the national park.
