What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a new Scheme\u00a0 named \u201cPM Vishwakarma\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the PM Vishwakarma<\/b> Scheme?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Type: <\/b>Central Sector Scheme<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To s<\/span>trengthen and nurture the Guru-Shishya parampara or family-based practice of traditional skills by artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 To improve the quality, as well as the reach of products and services of artisans and craftspeople and to ensure that the Vishwakarmas are integrated with the domestic and global value chains.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coverage: <\/b>The scheme will provide support to artisans and craftspeople of rural and urban areas across India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Eighteen traditional trades will be covered under the scheme. These include <\/span>carpenter, boat maker, armourer, blacksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, goldsmith, potter, sculptor, stone breaker, cobbler, mason, basket\/mat\/broom maker\/coir weaver, traditional doll and toy maker, barber, garland maker, washerman, tailor and fishing net maker.<\/span><\/p>\n

Duration of the scheme: <\/b>F<\/span>ive years (FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Features of the scheme: <\/b>Artisans and craftspeople will be provided a recognition through PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The scheme has a provision of credit support of up to \u20b91 lakh (first tranche) and \u20b92 lakh (second tranche) with a concessional interest rate of 5%.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 It also has a provision to provide skill upgradation, incentive for toolkit as well as digital transactions and marketing support.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Skilling programmes will take place at both basic and advanced types. Participants will get a stipend of \u20b9500 per day while undergoing training.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Beneficiaries will also receive up to \u20b915,000 to buy modern tools.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
