It sets clear learning standards and competencies, enabling teachers to foster critical thinking, creativity, and genuine understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The framework also empowers educators, encourages engaging pedagogies and emphasizes the importance of school culture and values.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s important to note that the National Education Policy(NEP) 2020 and the NCFs, based on the education policy, <\/span><b>are not binding on the states<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are the key recommendations given in the framework?<\/b><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_257174\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-257174\" style=\"width: 691px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-257174 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Screenshot-2023-08-24-at-3.33.34-PM.png?resize=691%2C669&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"691\" height=\"669\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Screenshot-2023-08-24-at-3.33.34-PM.png?w=691&amp;ssl=1 691w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Screenshot-2023-08-24-at-3.33.34-PM.png?resize=300%2C290&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 691px) 100vw, 691px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-257174\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Economic Times<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>Languages: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students in Classes 9 and 10 will need to learn three languages, of which at least two will be native to India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 In Classes 11 and 12, students will learn two languages, including one of Indian origin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Currently, students in Classes 9 and 10 study two languages, and students in Class 11 and 12 study one language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Board Exams: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All students will be allowed to take Board exams on at least two occasions during any given school year, with only the best score being retained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>No stream restrictions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For grades 11 and 12, the previously followed system of science, commerce and humanities streams has been eliminated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Instead, the NCF says that the students will be offered \u201cchoice-based courses\u201d that will enable flexibility and remove hard separations between disciplines and academic areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mandatory Subjects:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> So far, the students from Classes 9 to 12 studied five mandatory subjects, with an option of adding one more subject. Now, the number of mandatory subjects for Classes 9 and 10 is seven and it\u2019s six for Classes 11 and 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Semester system:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In the long term, all Boards should change to semester or term-based systems, where students can be tested in a subject as soon as they have completed the subject, which would reduce the content load being tested in any one examination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Classes 6 to 8: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NCF states that 20% content would be from the local level for the Social Science curriculum, 30% content would be from the regional level, 30% would be from the national level and 20% content would be global.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Environmental Education <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is given due emphasis across all stages of schooling, culminating in a separate area of study in the Secondary Stage.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The post is based on the article \u201cNational Curriculum Framework proposes Board exams twice a year\u201d \u00a0published in The Hindu on 24th August 2023.
