What is the approach followed by various jurisdictions for regulating AI?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

European approach-<\/strong>\u00a0 The regulatory structur<\/strong>e aims to categorize artificial intelligence systems based on the level of risk<\/strong> they present. These levels of risk are divided into four groups: minimal, limited, high, and unacceptable. <\/strong><\/p>\n

This model also proposes the establishment of a European Artificial Intelligence Board <\/strong>responsible for supervising the enforcement of regulations.<\/p>\n

Indian approach-<\/strong> A document published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India<\/strong> in July outlined a potential structure for regulation. <\/strong><\/p>\n

It suggested the creation of an independent statutory body and a diverse stakeholder group <\/strong>comprising government, academia, and industry representatives<\/strong> to provide guidance.<\/p>\n

The document put forward a matrix for classifying AI applications based on their risk levels<\/strong> and recommended regulating them in accordance with principles of responsible AI.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These principles encompassed inclusive growth, sustainable development, fairness, transparency, explainability, robustness, security, safety, and accountability.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The TRAI document also discusses the establishment of a global organization<\/strong> responsible for the “advancement, establishment of standards, and utilization of AI technology.” <\/strong><\/p>\n

Way forward-<\/strong>
\nThe influence of AI is poised to extend beyond the realm of information technology<\/strong>. It is reaching various domains<\/strong> such as education, healthcare, and finance.<\/p>\n

AI systems encompass matters ranging from privacy concerns to biases and inequities, security vulnerabilities, intellectual property entitlements<\/strong>. It demands a forward-thinking strategy. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Furthermore, regulatory structures<\/strong> cannot operate in isolation. AI’s impact is not confined by geographic limits<\/strong>. Effective global cooperation<\/strong> will be imperative as AI transcends geographical boundaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
