It feeds on rodents, lizards, and even other snakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>IUCN:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Near Threatened<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule IV<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>CITES: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appendix II<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What does the <\/b><b>Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)-India\u00a0 report say on Red Sand Boa?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red sand boa is now acknowledged as one of the most traded reptile species in the illegal trade market due to its demand in the pet trade, as well as for use in black magic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around 172 incidents of illegal red sand boa trade were reported between the years 2016-2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The highest number was recorded in Maharashtra often from urban areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report also highlights the role of social media in the illegal trade of the species.
