What are issues related to the process of confiscation of children by foreign authorities from migrant parents?<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

A migrated family in a high-income country finds themselves in a\u00a0troubling situation<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0where they are accused of mistreating<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0their children.<\/p>\n

These allegations surface through the child’s struggles in\u00a0adapting to a foreign environment<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0at school and when parents seek\u00a0medical care <\/b><\/strong>for an injured or ill child.<\/p>\n

The ensuing\u00a0legal process<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0heavily biased.<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Assessments carried out by social workers who hold cultural biases <\/b><\/strong>against the family.<\/p>\n

As a result, the parents lose custody<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0of their children. They are subsequently placed in foster care<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0for their entire childhood.<\/p>\n

Contact with the parents is\u00a0severely restricted.<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0It is often limited to just one hour every few weeks in a dismal contact centre. Over time, the child becomes completely estranged<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0from their parents.<\/p>\n

What are the issues faced by children who are taken away from their parents?<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

These children are entrusted to local foster parents who do not share the same ethnic or cultural background<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0as the child’s family of origin.<\/p>\n

Consequently, these children lose their sense of identity<\/b><\/strong>. They fail to establish meaningful connections <\/b><\/strong>with either their host country or their extended family back home.<\/p>\n

When they eventually leave foster care, they are left feeling doubly alienated<\/b><\/strong>. They are not considered citizens of the country where they reside, and they lack\u00a0significant ties<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0to their country of origin.<\/p>\n

Way forward-<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

A more\u00a0compassionate and humane solution<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0for such children would involve their\u00a0safe return <\/b><\/strong>to their home country, rather than leaving them in the\u00a0custody of a foreign state.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Foreign nations should move beyond self-righteous perspectives<\/b><\/strong>. They should conduct genuine investigations<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0into parents’ claims of\u00a0cultural bias and unfair trials <\/b><\/strong>within their child protection systems. <\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

The fate of these children should be considered from a\u00a0broader perspective<\/b><\/strong>, rather than merely focusing on their place of residence. <\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
