{"id":260187,"date":"2023-09-15T19:48:34","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T14:18:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=260187"},"modified":"2023-10-08T08:31:39","modified_gmt":"2023-10-08T03:01:39","slug":"sc-data-now-onboard-national-judicial-data-grid-portal-cji","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/sc-data-now-onboard-national-judicial-data-grid-portal-cji\/","title":{"rendered":"SC data now onboard National Judicial Data Grid portal: CJI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post is based on the article<\/span><b> \u201cSC data now onboard National Judicial Data Grid portal: CJI\u201d\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in I<\/span><b>ndian Express on 15th September 2023<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chief Justice of India has announced that the Supreme Court is now \u201conboard\u201d the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) Portal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the National Judicial Data Grid(NJDG) Portal?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Judicial Data Grid(NJDG) is a national repository of data relating to cases instituted, pending and disposed of by the courts across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The portal contains a database of orders, judgments and case details of 18,735 District and subordinate Courts and High Courts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its key feature is that the data is updated in real-time and has granular data up to the Taluka level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Developed by:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> National Informatics Centre (NIC) in close coordination with the in-house software development team of the Computer Cell, Registry of the Supreme Court with an interactive interface and analytics dashboard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The portal was built <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as part of Phase II of the <\/span><b>e-Courts project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>How does the NJDG Portal help?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Firstly, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NJDG works as a monitoring tool to identify, manage &amp; reduce pendency of cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Take, for instance, the Supreme Court data.For the year 2023, the total pendency of registered cases in SC is 64,854. But the Cases instituted last month were 5,412 while cases disposed of in the last month were 5,033.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 This shows that the pendency in SC is largely due to legacy cases since the Court is currently disposing of approximately the same number of cases filed on an annual basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Secondly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it helps identify specific bottlenecks in judicial processes.
