News<\/strong>– Over the last six months, encounters with Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in the region immediately north and south of the Pir Panjal range have been frequent. Army has lost several brave soldiers in these incidents.<\/p>\n

What is the current situation of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir? <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The recent occurrences represent the fading remnants of terrorism<\/strong>, despite Pakistan’s efforts to revive them.<\/p>\n

In the four years following the amendment of Article 370<\/strong>, significant progress has been made by concentrating on eradicating Pakistan’s networks involved in proxy warfare. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This has involved targeting over-ground workers, reducing infiltration, diminishing local recruitment, and accelerating development efforts. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Several factors that contribute to supporting terrorism have witnessed a significant decrease. Infiltration and local recruitment<\/strong> have seen a dramatic reduction.<\/p>\n

The counter-infiltration measures<\/strong> in the Kashmir Valley are highly effective and multi-layered. <\/strong>Consequently, there has been a shift in the actions of terrorists toward the borders of Jammu and Punjab.<\/p>\n

These borders serve as routes for smuggling narcotics, weapons, and equipment. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The triggers for negative sentiments <\/strong>have decreased. Public funerals <\/strong>for terrorists, both foreign and local, are no longer allowed. Efforts to empower the youth<\/strong> have also intensified substantially.<\/p>\n

Why would it be incorrect to claim that the issue of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has been entirely resolved?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Pakistan has invested considerable resources, time, energy, and personnel<\/strong> in conducting this proxy war<\/strong> for over three decades. It is unlikely to stop these efforts easily.<\/p>\n

Following August 5, 2019, there was a decrease in violence.<\/strong> It led to a misconception among the public that the proxy war<\/strong> had nearly ended.<\/p>\n

The absence of violence does not equate to normalcy.<\/strong> It is a multi-faceted concept<\/strong>. Over the course of 30 years, terrorism and proxy warfare have given rise to covert networks<\/strong> that continue to operate.<\/p>\n

It will take a considerable amount of time<\/strong> to attain the desired state of normalcy. Pakistan will attempt to reignite separatism<\/strong> through the remaining elements of terror.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Way forward- <\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is essential to maintain realistic expectations.<\/strong> A region that has experienced abnormality<\/strong> for over three decades will not easily overcome negative sentiments. <\/strong><\/p>\n

It will require time and sustained efforts in outreach and the promotion of patriotism.<\/strong> More influential speakers, writers, and intellectuals should engage with the youth t<\/strong>o bolster their aspirations.<\/p>\n

The “all of government approach”<\/strong> adopted in Jammu and Kashmir is proving effective<\/strong>. But the national electronic media<\/strong> also needs to contribute positively<\/strong> to this effort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
