The army feels that absence of the law is hampering its operations against insurgent groups in the area. These groups may be using the unrest to gain a foothold in the State.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, it is also being seen as another instance of the government\u2019s partisan conduct.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the rationale provided by the government for its decision?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The decision to maintain the status quo on &#8216;disturbed areas&#8217; might be due to the challenges in assessing the ground situation amidst ongoing law and order maintenance.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What should be done?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Given the tensions between the community and the Assam Rifles, there&#8217;s a risk of escalating conflicts.
