India is the world\u2019s fifth largest producer of natural rubber.<\/span><\/p>\n

India is also the second biggest consumer of Natural Rubber globally.<\/span><\/p>\n

About 40% of India\u2019s total natural rubber consumption is currently met through imports.<\/span><\/p>\n

The challenges faced by the Natural Rubber Industry are: Low rubber prices, increased labour costs, labour shortages, diseases, climate change, environmental problems etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

Full Form: <\/b>Indian Natural Rubber Organisation for Assisted Development(INROAD) project<\/span><\/p>\n

Launched by: <\/b>Rubber Board of India in collaboration with the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers\u2019 Association<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim:<\/b> To boost rubber cultivation across the northeastern states.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Rubber Board of India?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Rubber Board is a statutory body constituted by the Government of India under the Rubber Act 1947.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nodal Ministry<\/b>: Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose:<\/b> The Board is responsible for the development of the rubber industry in the country by way of assisting and encouraging research, development, extension and training activities related to rubber.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Headquarters:<\/b> Kottayam in Kerala.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries(ANRPC)?<\/b><\/h2>\n

ANRPC is an intergovernmental organization established in 1970.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The membership is open to the governments of countries producing natural rubber.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Members:<\/b> Currently, 13 countries are members: India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n
