What is the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has joined the One CGIAR integrated partnership.<\/span><\/p>\n

This partnership involves the CGIAR System Organization and 12 One CGIAR research centres (including ICRISAT).<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim behind this partnership is to work together to address climate-related challenges in food, land and water systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is <\/b>CGIAR (Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centres)?<\/b><\/h2>\n

CGIAR was established in 1971.It is a network of publicly-funded agri-food systems research centres.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve human health and nutrition, and sustainable management of natural resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

Members: <\/b>It <\/span>consists of 15 international agricultural research institutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the International<\/b> Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT)?<\/b><\/h2>\n

ICRISAT is a non-profit, non-political organization founded in 1972.<\/span>Its charter was signed by the FAO and the UNDP.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim: <\/b>To <\/span>conduct agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n

ICRISAT holds a special status<\/b> as a UN organization in India.This makes it eligible for special immunities and tax privileges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Headquarters:<\/b> Patancheru, Hyderabad<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 It also has regional centers in Mali and Kenya and research stations in several African countries.<\/span><\/p>\n
