Why in the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a new Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) portal.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana(PMMVY)?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Launched in<\/b><\/td>\n2017<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Component of<\/b><\/td>\nMission Shakti since 2022<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nodal Ministry<\/b><\/td>\nMinistry of Women and Child Development<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Type<\/b><\/td>\nCentrally Sponsored Scheme<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objectives<\/b><\/td>\n1.To provide <\/span>partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentive, so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first child.
\n<\/span>2.To improve health seeking behavior amongst the Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers (PW&LM).\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Eligibility<\/b><\/td>\nThe scheme covers all Pregnant Woman & Lactating Mothers (PW&LM), excluding PW&LM who are in regular employment with the Central Government or State Governments or the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or those who are in receipt of similar benefits under any law.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Limit<\/b><\/td>\nThe maternity benefit is to be provided to a woman for the first two children provided the second child is a girl<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Benefits<\/b><\/td>\nFirst Child<\/b>: \u20b95000 (in two installments) under PMMVY.
\n<\/span>Plus additional cash incentive of Rs 1000 under <\/span>Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) after institutional delivery.
\n<\/span>On an average ,a women gets \u20b96000 total<\/span><\/td>\n		Second Child: <\/b>Benefit of \u20b96000 is to be provided subject<\/span> to the second child being a girl child.
\n<\/span>This will be provided in one instalment after the birth.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
