Why in the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Before India’s upcoming evaluations by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Government of India has implemented several measures in line with the recommendations of FATF from its 2010 review.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Established in\u00a0<\/b><\/td>\n1989 by G7<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Members<\/b><\/td>\n39 members. 37 jurisdictions and 2 regional organizations (<\/span>the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Commission<\/span>)<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
India and FATF<\/b><\/td>\nIndia joined with \u2018observer\u2019 status in 2006 and became a full member of FATF in 2010.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

FATF Sessions<\/b><\/td>\nFATF Plenary is the decision making body of the FATF. It meets three times per year<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Listing by FATF<\/b><\/td>\nGrey List:<\/b> Countries that are considered a safe haven for supporting terror funding and money laundering are put in the grey list. This inclusion serves as a warning to the country that it may enter the blacklist<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Black List<\/b>: <\/span>Countries known as Non-Cooperative are put in the blacklist. These countries support terror funding and money laundering activities.
\n<\/span>As of now, <\/span>Iran, North Korea and Myanmar<\/b> are the three black listed countries.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
