The crest of the under-construction guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy named \u201c<\/span>INS Surat\u201d <\/b>was unveiled recently.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is INS Surat?<\/b><\/h2>\n

INS Surat is the <\/span>fourth ship of the indigenously designed and constructed <\/span>Project 15B <\/b>(Vishakhapatnam Class) destroyers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Being Built by<\/b>: Mazagaon Dock Limited (MDL) in Mumbai<\/span><\/p>\n

Features: <\/b>The ship has been constructed using innovative block construction methodology, wherein the ship’s hull has been assembled at distinct geographical locations before being integrated at the Mazagon Dock Limited(MDL).<\/span><\/p>\n

What does the crest of INS Surat depict?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The crest of INS Surat depicts the renowned Hazira lighthouse. It was built in 1836, at the southern entrance of the Gulf of Khambhat. It was among India’s earliest lighthouses.<\/span><\/p>\n

The crest also features an Asiatic lion (state animal of Gujarat) representing the majesty and strength of ships.<\/span><\/p>\n
