Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Synthesis Report has been released.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the NDC Synthesis Report?<\/h2>\n

Released by: <\/b>Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC)<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose:<\/b> The report has analyzed the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) of 195 Parties to the Paris Agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Findings of the report:<\/b><\/p>\n

1)If the current <\/span>Nationally Determined Contributions(NDC) are implemented<\/span>, global greenhouse gas emissions are set to increase 9% by 2030, compared to 2010 levels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2)This is a marginal improvement over last year\u2019s assessment, which found countries were on a path to increase emissions by 10.6% by 2030, compared to 2010 levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

3)But the studies have clearly indicated that <\/span>emissions need to be cut by 43% by the end of 2030 compared to 2010 levels to meet the goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Working Groups<\/b><\/td>\nWorking Group I:<\/b> Focuses on the physical science basis of climate change.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Working Group II: <\/b>Addresses impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Working Group III:<\/b> Examines options for mitigation of climate change.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Does IPCC conducts its own research<\/b><\/td>\nIPCC itself does not conduct any research nor does it monitor climate related data or parameters.
