These programs will aim at making government schools better than private schools in all parameters \u2014 infrastructure, affordability and quality.<\/p>\n<p>This proactive approach to transforming the education system has led to an unprecedented shift in enrolment patterns, with <strong>81% of students<\/strong> in the State currently studying in government schools.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is Odisha\u2019s OAV Model?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Odisha\u2019s OAV model aims to bridge the <strong>rural-urban gap<\/strong> by providing <strong>accessible, qualitative and affordable English-medium education<\/strong>. This it does through the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Inclusive Education: <\/strong>They ensure representation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and female students through reservations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Education for the Vulnerable:<\/strong> Children who had been victims of child abuse, trafficking, child labour, and child marriage were rescued and prepared for the OAV entrance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coaching Facilities: <\/strong>To enable students to crack national-level tests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teacher Training: <\/strong>To address pedagogical gaps, it focuses on continuous teacher education programmes and maintains a teacher-pupil ratio of 1:25.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>5, <strong>Leverages Technology:<\/strong> Digital tools help track the progress of each child alongside monitoring the performance of each school, enabling timely strategic interventions and ensuring transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the Mo School Abhiyan?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Mo School Abhiyan is a one-of-its-kind initiative that strives<strong> to motivate and mobilise the alumni community<\/strong> to contribute towards revamping the government schools in Odisha.<br \/>\nIt is founded on 5 pillars \u2014 <strong>connect, collaborate, contribute, create and celebrate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It facilitates students\u2019 exposure to exchange programmes, sports and cultural events, and also helps in creating stronger infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>School Adoption Programme (SAP),<\/strong> under the above, enables the alumni to make financial contributions to the schools adopted by them. More than 5.5 lakh contributors including ministers, MPs and MLAs, bureaucrats, professionals, and judges have contributed to this initiative.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the High School Transformation Programme?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The 5T-High School Transformation Programme is rooted in the <strong>5T concept of transparency, technology, teamwork, and timeliness leading to transformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Leverages Education Technology: <\/strong>It focuses on the adoption of educational technology, in the form of smart and digital classrooms, e-libraries, modern science laboratories, etc. in all high schools.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Needs of Specially abled Children Met:<\/strong> It provides <strong>assistive devices<\/strong> and <strong>tailored teaching-learning materials<\/strong> for students with autism, cerebral palsy, and intellectual disabilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on Holistic Development:<\/strong> Campaigns like \u2018Mo School Hockey Clubs\u2019 and \u2018Football for All\u2019 enable holistic development of students\u2019 personalities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Question for practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inclusivity, technology and infrastructure are key to making quality public education a reality in India.
