India recently hosted the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit in a virtual format.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Voice of the Global South Summit?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Voice of the Global South Summit<\/span> is an Indian initiative to provide a common platform for the countries of the Global South to share their perspectives and priorities on several major issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

India hosted the first <\/span>Voice of the Global South Summit in January, 2023 under the theme \u2018Unity of Voice, Unity of Purpose\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second Voice of the Global South Summit<\/strong> is being hosted under the theme \u201c<\/strong><\/span>Together for Everyone\u2019s Growth, Together for Everyone\u2019s Trust\u2019\u2019<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the key highlights from the second <\/b>Voice of the Global South Summit?<\/b><\/h2>\n

1) The Prime Minister launched <\/span>DAKSHIN. <\/b>It is a Global Centre for excellence for the Global South countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) He also called for<\/span> 5 \u2018Cs\u2019 for the Global South<\/b>: consultation, cooperation, communication, creativity and capacity building.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Global South?<\/b><\/h2>\n

1) The Global South refers to countries often characterized as developing, less developed, or underdeveloped, primarily located in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) These nations have higher levels of poverty, income inequality, and challenging living conditions compared to the wealthier nations of the Global North.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) The Global North are richer nations that are located mostly in North America and Europe, with some additions in Oceania and elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is <\/b>Brandt Line?<\/b><\/h2>\n

1)The Brandt Line <\/span>was <\/span>proposed by Willy Brandt in the 1980s.<\/span><\/p>\n

2)It is a visual depiction that categorizes the world into richer countries mainly in the Northern Hemisphere and poorer countries mostly in the Southern Hemisphere.<\/span><\/p>\n

3)The line basically shows the <\/span>socio-economic divide between northern countries and southern countries.<\/span><\/p>\n
