Why in the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has clarified the rules under which foreign medical graduates, especially students from Ukraine and the Philippines, can register, work and study in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the rules released by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for foreign medical graduates?<\/b><\/h2>\n

1)<\/span>Graduates from foreign medical institutes who completed their courses offline need to obtain provisional registration from the State Medical Council and must undergo a compulsory one-year rotating medical internship.<\/span>Such students are eligible to work in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

2)<\/span> NMC has extended the Academic Mobility Programme started in 2022.Under this programme, <\/span>medical graduates from Ukraine can continue their study from a different country (except India).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The degree will be awarded by the university to which they migrate.This migration option must be utilized within three months from the date of the public notice’s issue.<\/span><\/p>\n

3)The time limit for appearing in Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) or the NExT will be 10 years from the completion of their course overseas.At present, there is no such time limit for appearing in FMGE.<\/span><\/p>\n
