Why in the News?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Consultative Committee meeting for the Ministry of Steel has discussed the progress on the Initiative to introduce branding and labelling of \u2018Made-in-India\u2019 steel products in the global market.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Initiative to introduce branding and labelling of \u2018Made-in-India\u2019 steel products?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Specifications\u00a0<\/b><\/td>\nDetails<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Launched by<\/b><\/td>\nMinistry of Steel<\/strong> and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Purpose<\/b><\/td>\n1) Aims to add<\/strong> ‘<\/span>Made in India’ labels <\/b>to domestic steel products and promote them at the global level.
\n<\/span>2) The label will have details<\/span> of the <\/span>product<\/b> and a <\/span>Made in India Logo<\/b> along with a <\/span>QR Code<\/b>.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Phases<\/b><\/td>\n1) Phase I: <\/b>In this phase, all Integrated Steel Players (ISPs) have been included. <\/span>This phase is expected to be completed by March 2024.
\n<\/span>2) <\/span>Phase II: <\/b>Made in India Branding will be extended to the Specialized Steel Plants (SSPs).<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Significance<\/b><\/td>\n1) This is <\/span>the first ever initiative by any ministry to introduce labeling<\/strong> and branding of the sector\u2019s products.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) It will make <\/span>Indian steel products more attractive to buyers<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) E\u200bnsures standardized<\/strong> quality of goods.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) Strengthens the country’s<\/span> domestic manufacturing in line with the Make in India Initiative<\/strong>.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
