A gene called <\/span><b>BCL11A <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which is crucial for switching from foetal to adult haemoglobin is targeted by the therapy.<br \/>\n<\/span>&#8211; <b>Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Foetal haemoglobin which is naturally present in everyone at birth, does not carry the same abnormalities as adult haemoglobin.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; The therapy uses the body\u2019s own mechanisms to start producing more of this foetal haemoglobin alleviating the symptoms of the two conditions.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Challenges<\/b><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) <\/span><b>High Cost <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is one of the biggest limitations of gene therapies.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2) <\/span><b style=\"font-family: inherit;
