The Indian <\/span>Prime Minister will attend the World Climate Action Summit (WCAS) in Dubai during the 28th Conference of Parties (CoP-28).<\/span><\/p>\n

What are India’s updated climate targets?<\/h2>\n

At COP26<\/strong> held at Glasgow, Scotland<\/strong> in 2021, India presented the following five targets called Panchamrit<\/strong> as part of India\u2019s climate action:<\/span><\/p>\n

1) At least 500GW of energy installations by 2030 to be from non-fossil sources.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) 50 per cent of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) Reduction of total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes from now to 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) Reducing the carbon intensity of the economy by 45 per cent by 2030, over 2005 levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

5) Achieving the target of Net Zero emissions by 2070.<\/span><\/p>\n

Climate change under G20’s New Delhi Declaration?<\/h2>\n

1) The New Delhi Declaration was adopted at the 18th G20 Summit held in New Delhi<\/strong> in 2023, under India’s Presidency.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) The countries committed to “tripling” installed renewable energy capacity sources by 2030<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
