Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the AICTE Approval Process Handbook for Academic Year 2024-2027.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the AICTE Approval Process Handbook for Academic Year 2024-2027?<\/h2>\n

Purpose: <\/b>The handbook elaborates on processes which institutions need to follow while seeking approval from the AICTE to run technical and management programmes\/courses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Validity: <\/b>The handbook is applicable for the next three years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Features of the Handbook:<\/b><\/p>\n

1) <\/b>Extension of Approval: <\/b>Well-performing institutions can get approval for an extension for up to 3 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Intake Relaxation: <\/b>Upper limit on intake for courses offered by well-performing institutions has been relaxed. However, they need to showcase quality infrastructure and qualified faculty before seeking intake.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) Off-Campus Provision: <\/b>Well-performing institutions can offer off-campus programs within the jurisdiction of affiliating Universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) New Programs: <\/b>Undergratuate programs in Computer Applications (BCA) and Management (BBA\/BMS) programs brought under the AICTE umbrella.<\/span><\/p>\n

5) Flexible Learning: <\/b>Employed professionals can upgrade qualifications at diploma\/degree\/postgraduate level through flexible learning modes.<\/span><\/p>\n

6) Innovation Focus: <\/b>Promotes innovations through the INDOVATION program and <\/span>by establishing the Institution\u2019s Innovation Council (IIC) on their campuses.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is an INDOVATION Program?<\/h2>\n

1) Launched by:<\/b> AICTE<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Under this program, AICTE plans to set up INDOVATION centers across the country to carry out Indian Knowledge System (IKS) projects<\/strong> such as validating theories developed in the ancient times, verifying old texts, carrying out translations among others.<\/span><\/p>\n
