The draft text on the Santiago Network has been adopted at COP28.<\/p>\n

What is Santiago network?<\/h2>\n

1) The Santiago Network was established at COP 25 in Madrid<\/strong><\/p>\n

2) It was established as part of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM<\/strong>) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)<\/p>\n

3) Objective-<\/strong> It aims to catalyze technical assistance<\/strong> for vulnerable developing countries in order to address loss and damage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4) Significance of this initiative-
\n<\/b>a. Enhanced capacity of developing countries to address loss and damage.
\nb. Increased access to finance and technology.
\nc. More effective implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies.<\/p>\n

What are the other initiatives discussed on the sidelines of COP 28?<\/h2>\n

1. The Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA)- <\/strong>it is a collective commitment under the Paris Agreement aimed at \u201cenhancing [the world’s] adaptive capacity, strengthening resilience and reducing vulnerability to climate change.<\/p>\n

2. Dairy Methane Alliance-<\/strong> Six of the world\u2019s largest food companies, including Nestle, have come together to accelerate food industry action to drive down\u00a0 methane emissions from the sector.<\/p>\n
