But have started practicing <strong>settled cultivation<\/strong>, cultivating crops such as Jowar, Ragi, Bajra, and other millets.<br \/>\n2) They also resort to <strong>hunting and foraging<\/strong>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 60px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 32.0606%; height: 60px;\"><strong>Religion<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 67.9394%; height: 60px;\">1) Many Koya deities are female, the most important being the &#8220;<strong>mother earth<\/strong>&#8220;.<br \/>\n2) They also worship a number of Hindu gods Lord Bhima, Korra Rajulu, Mamili, and Potaraju.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 120px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 32.0606%; height: 120px;\"><strong>Festivals<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 67.9394%; height: 120px;\">1) <strong>Medaram Jathara<\/strong> &#8211; It is conducted in honour of the goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma.<br \/>\nNote- It is the second-largest fair of India, after the Kumbh Mela and the largest tribal festival in Asia.<br \/>\n2) Other major festivals include:<br \/>\na. Vijji Pandum (seed-charming festival)<br \/>\nb. Kondala Kolupu (festival dedicated to appeasing Hill deities)<br \/>\nc. Bhumi Panduga (commencement of the agricultural season)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 90px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 32.0606%; height: 59px;\"><strong>Traditional Dance<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 67.9394%; height: 59px;\"><strong>Permakok ata<\/strong>, also called the Bison Horn Dance, is practiced during festivals and marriage ceremonies.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 90px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 32.0606%; height: 90px;\"><strong>Permakore<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 67.9394%; height: 90px;\">It is the <strong>traditional flute made of Bison horn<\/strong>. Permakore is played at a designated time and place to give a call to the entire village to go hunting in the forest<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>About Papikonda hill range<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) It is the habitat of the Indian Bison and hence is <strong>also known as the &#8216;Bison hill range&#8217;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0<strong>Papikonda National park-<\/strong> Declared in 2008, the Papikonda National Park is spread across East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.
