Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The Global River Cities Alliance (GRCA), led by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)<\/strong>, was launched at COP28 in Dubai.<\/p>\n

What is Global River Cities Alliance?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n
What is it?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n1) The GRCA is a unique alliance to propagate river-sensitive development<\/strong> in cities around the world.<\/span>
\n2) It <\/span>extends the River Cities Alliance<\/span><\/b>, initially established by NMCG in 2021.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Aim<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nTo foster global collaboration for river conservation and sustainable water management.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Members<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nIncludes over <\/span>275 river-cities worldwide across 11 countries<\/span><\/b> (India, Australia, Japan, Bhutan, Egypt, etc), along with international funding agencies (World Bank, AIIB, ADB)<\/span><\/p>\n

Note-<\/strong> River cities of Den Haag, from the Netherlands, Adelaide from Australia, and Szolnok of Hungary joined the GRCA.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

What is River Cities Alliance?<\/h2>\n

1) Purpose<\/strong>: It is a dedicated platform for river cities in India to ideate, discuss and exchange information for the sustainable management of urban rivers.<\/p>\n

2) Launched by<\/strong>: NMCG in association with National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA)<\/span><\/p>\n
