Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The <\/span>New Delhi Declaration <\/b>has been adopted at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit<\/strong>. <\/span><\/b>It is being hosted by India<\/strong> at the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

What is Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI)?<\/h2>\n

1) GPAI is a <\/span>multi-stakeholder effort aimed at steering the responsible development and application of artificial intelligence<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Members- 29 member countries<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) India will be the lead<\/strong> chair for 2024.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What are the Key Highlights of the New Delhi Declaration?<\/h2>\n

1) <\/span>Responsible AI development and deployment<\/b>: This includes ensuring transparency, accountability, fairness, and non-discrimination in AI systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Global framework on AI<\/strong>: It states that such a framework should be rooted in democratic values and human rights, safeguarding dignity and well-being as well as ensuring personal data protection.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) <\/span>Inclusive AI:<\/b> Ensuring equitable access to the benefits of AI for all countries and people.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) <\/span>Address concerns around AI: <\/b>\u00a0<\/b>The declaration commits countries to work on addressing concerns around AI such as unemployment, lack of transparency and fairness, protection of intellectual property and personal data and threats to human rights and democratic values.<\/span><\/p>\n

5) <\/span>Diverse membership:<\/b> GPAI will pursue a diverse membership with a particular focus on low and middle-income countries to ensure a broad range of expertise, national and regional views and experiences based on our shared values.<\/span><\/p>\n

6) <\/span>Agriculture as a priority: <\/b>The declaration acknowledges India\u2019s contribution in making agriculture a part of the AI agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n
