      \u00a0Findings of the report:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      1. An estimated 6.3 million children under 15 years of age died in 2017, or 1 every 5 seconds, mostly of preventable causes.<\/li>\n
      2. Majority of these deaths (5.4 million) occurred in the first five years of life, with newborns accounting for around half the deaths.<\/li>\n
      3. \u00a0<\/strong>The report notes that for children everywhere, the most risky period of life is the first month.<\/li>\n
      4. Under five child mortality has fallen dramatically from 12.6 million in 1990 to 5.4 million in 2017.<\/li>\n
      5. Mortality for children aged between 5 to 14 years, dropped from 1.7 million to less than 1 million in the same period.<\/li>\n
      6. Without urgent action, 56 million children under five will die until 2030 \u2013 half of them newborns.<\/li>\n
      7. Progress towards saving newborns has been slower than for other children under 5 years of age since 1990.<\/li>\n
