Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

Recently Minister of State for Defence has filed a reply in Parliament regarding the successful implementation of the Dare to Dream (D2D) scheme.<\/p>\n

What is Dare to Dream (D2D) Scheme?

Aspect<\/strong><\/td>\nDetails<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
What is it?<\/strong><\/td>\n1) Under this, annual Dare to Dream Contests are organised to promote innovations by individual and start-ups for advancements in defence and aerospace technologies.
\n2) It was initiated in memory of the former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
\n3) This is the 4th edition of the contest.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Launched on\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\n2019<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Launched by<\/strong><\/td>\nDefence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Eligibility<\/strong><\/td>\nIndian citizens above 18 years and startups registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, led by Indian founders.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shortlisting and Ranking<\/strong><\/td>\nThe winners will be decided after due evaluation by an independent expert committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/td>\nEntries will be evaluated based on criteria such as novelty, applicability, implementability, technical merit and maturity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Benefits to Winners<\/strong><\/td>\n1) Cash award of up to 10 lakhs for Start-ups and 5 lakhs for individuals.<\/strong>
\n2) Winners are also eligible to secure funding through DRDO’s TDF scheme<\/strong> for realizing prototypes, contingent on merit and feasibility.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
