Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The Union Women and Child Development Ministry aims to establish 17,000 creches in <\/span>Anganwadi Centres across the country. This is being done as part of <\/span>Palna Scheme.<\/b><\/p>\n

Focus of the scheme<\/b><\/td>\nThe scheme focuses on two types of creches
\n<\/span>1) <\/span>Anganwadi-cum-Cr\u00e8ches:<\/b> These centers combine existing Anganwadi services with dedicated cr\u00e8che facilities. This approach aims to holistically address the needs of both mothers and children in one convenient location.
\n<\/span>2) <\/span>Stand-alone creches:<\/b> The cr\u00e8ches which were running under the erstwhile National Creche Scheme have been included as Stand Alone Creches.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Target Group<\/b><\/td>\nThe scheme focuses on children of 6 months to 6 years, of working women in rural and urban areas who are employed for a minimum period of 15 days in a month, or six months in a year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

What is Creche?<\/h2>\n

A cr\u00e8che is a facility which enables parents to leave their children while they are at work and where children are provided a stimulating environment for their holistic development<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
