{"id":275081,"date":"2023-12-26T16:50:32","date_gmt":"2023-12-26T11:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=275081"},"modified":"2023-12-26T16:50:32","modified_gmt":"2023-12-26T11:20:32","slug":"enhancing-railway-safety-compulsory-disaster-management-training-for-railway-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/enhancing-railway-safety-compulsory-disaster-management-training-for-railway-officers\/","title":{"rendered":"Enhancing Railway Safety: Compulsory Disaster Management Training for Railway Officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Source-<\/strong> This post is based on the article &#8220;<strong>Railway officers to be trained in disaster management; NAIR, IRIDM to impart training<\/strong>&#8221; published in &#8220;<strong>The Hindu<\/strong>&#8221; on 25th December 2023.<\/p>\n<h2>Why in the News?<\/h2>\n<p>After the Odisha train tragedy inquiry revealed the need for a quicker disaster response, the Ministry of Railways has mandated disaster management training for railway officers.<\/p>\n<h2>What decisions have been made by the Railways?<\/h2>\n<p>1) Disaster management is now an <strong>integral part of railway officers training<\/strong>, included in both induction courses and mid-career training programs.<\/p>\n<p>2) The <strong>National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR)<\/strong> in Vadodara and the <strong>Indian Railway Institute of Disaster Management (IRIDM)<\/strong> in Bengaluru will collaborate to deliver this comprehensive training.<\/p>\n<p>3) However, there is some confusion regarding the implementation of the training. With the the Railway Board&#8217;s directive for NAIR to transfer assets, including buildings and infrastructure, to Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), the training programs will now need approval from the university&#8217;s Vice-Chancellor.
