Why in news?<\/h2>\n

Recently, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) along with\u00a0National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has launched ‘SMART 2.0’ (Scope for Mainstreaming Ayurveda Research among Teaching professionals) program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What is ‘SMART 2.0’ Programme?<\/h2>\n

1) It is a program to promote robust clinical studies in priority areas of Ayurveda with Ayurveda academic institutions\/ hospitals<\/strong> across the country through mutual collaboration.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0The objective of \u2018SMART 2.0\u2019 is to generate tangible evidence to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of Ayurveda interventions<\/strong>\u00a0and translating it into public health care. <\/span><\/p>\n

3) The study under the programme aims at safety, tolerability and adherence to Ayurveda formulations<\/strong> in the priority research areas such as malnutrition, insufficient lactation, abnormal uterine bleeding, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) Under the \u2018SMART 1.0\u2019,<\/strong> around 10 diseases were covered<\/strong> with the active participation of teaching professionals from 38 colleges.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)?<\/h2>\n

1) CCRAS is an apex organization<\/strong> functioning under the Ministry of Ayush.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2) It works for the formulation, co-ordination, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda.<\/p>\n

What is National Commission for Indian System of Medicine?<\/h2>\n

1) The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine is the statutory body<\/strong> constituted under NCISM Act, 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2) The NCISM aims to enhance access to quality and affordable Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Sowa-Rigpa (AUS&SR) medical education. <\/strong><\/p>\n

3) It strives to ensure the availability of proficient AUS&SR medical professionals nationwide, promoting equitable and universal healthcare<\/strong> with a community health perspective.<\/p>\n

4) The commission encourages the adoption of the latest medical research, maintains a national AUS&SR medical register, enforces high ethical standards, and establishes an effective grievance redressal mechanism.<\/p>\n
