CJI Misra names Gogoi as successor<\/a><\/p>\n

  1. CJI Dipak Misra recommended Justice Ranjan Gogoi as his successor to the office.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Important Facts: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    2. Ranjan Gogoi will be the 46th Chief Justice of India.<\/p>\n

    3. He will be the first from Assam and north-east to hold this office.<\/p>\n

    4. Justice Gogoi was one of the four SC judges who highlighted the selective allotment of sensitive cases to different benches in apex court.<\/p>\n

    5. He came under criticism widely for his conduct in media along with other judges who held press conference<\/p>\n

    6. But CJI’s recommendation ended all speculations that he may be superseded.<\/p>\n

    7. However, Justice Gogoi had earlier suggested to set up a committee to resolve the differences.<\/p>\n

    8. This should be operationalized soon during his tenure, to maintain the highest judicial standards.<\/p>\n
