The loop shape is due to the material retaining magnetization even after the external magnetic field is reduced to zero.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the Meissner effect?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>1) The Meissner effect in <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/room-temperature-superconductor-is-the-holy-grail-within-grasp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">superconductors<\/a> is the <strong>expulsion of a magnetic field<\/strong> when the material transitions to the superconducting state below the critical temperature, causing repulsion of nearby magnets.<\/p>\n<p>2) The effect is <strong>only observable with a direct current (DC)<\/strong> used to generate the magnetic field.<\/p>\n<p>3) If an alternating current is employed, the material won&#8217;t exhibit the effect as the magnetic field continuously changes directions.<\/p>\n<p>4) It is utilized in various <strong>technological applications<\/strong>, such as in the development of levitating magnetic trains and superconducting magnets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPSC Syllabus- Science &amp; Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source-This post is based on the article &#8220;Study revives South Korea superconductivity claim with new data&#8221; published in &#8220;The Hindu&#8221; on 4th January 2024.
