The President of India has announced the results of the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023.<\/p>\n

What is it?<\/strong><\/td>\n1. Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey<\/strong> of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India.
\n2. It was launched in 2016 as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan<\/a><\/strong>, which aimed to make India clean and free of open defecation by 2nd October 2019.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Conducted by<\/strong><\/td>\nMinistry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) with Quality Council of India (QCI)<\/a><\/strong> as its implementation partner.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Parameters<\/strong><\/td>\nThe cities have been ranked based on three broad parameters<\/strong>– service level progress, citizen\u2019s voice and certification.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

1. In the State rankings<\/strong>, Maharashtra came first, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
\n2. Indore has been adjudged the cleanest city for the seventh time<\/strong> in a row.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Note-<\/strong> The Swachh Survekshan, initially assessing 73 major cities in 2016, has expanded its scope to include 4,477 cities.<\/p>\n
