Why in news?<\/h2>\n

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Atal Setu Nhava Sheva Sea Link <\/strong>or Mumbai Trans Harbour Link.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

What is Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL)?<\/h2>\n

1) It is the country\u2019s longest bridge over the sea. <\/strong>It is a 22-km-long twin-carriageway six-lane bridge over the Thane Creek in the Arabian Sea.<\/p>\n

2) It is officially named as the Atal Setu Nhava Sheva Sea Link.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) The MTHL includes a 16.5 km sea link<\/strong> and viaducts on land at either end with a cumulative length of 5.5 km.<\/strong><\/p>\n

4)<\/span>\u00a0The objective of the project<\/strong> is to improve connectivity<\/strong> in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region which comprises the districts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, and promote the region\u2019s economic development.<\/p>\n

How MTHL will help?<\/h2>\n

1) It will connect Sewri in the island city of Mumbai to Chirle<\/strong> in Raigad district on the mainland.<\/p>\n

2) It will\u00a0dramatically cut travel time<\/strong>, and will decongest the existing route over the Vashi bridge.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) It will significantly improve connectivity<\/strong> between South Mumbai and the under-construction Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Mumbai Pune Expressway, the Mumbai-Goa Highway, and the main hinterland in general.<\/p>\n

4) It will also provide improved access to Jawaharlal Nehru Port.<\/strong><\/p>\n
