Recently, at the India International Science Festival (IISF 2023) in Faridabad, technology related to ‘Bamboo Composites Brief<\/strong>‘ was transferred to a prominent materials manufacturing company.<\/p>\n

What are Bamboo Composites?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1) Bamboo composites are materials that blend bamboo fibers with other substances<\/span> to form composite materials.<\/p>\n

2) These composites utilize bamboo’s strength, flexibility, and sustainability for versatile applications in construction, furniture, and various industries<\/span>.<\/p>\n

3) In just 3-4 years, mature bamboo can be used for bamboo composites<\/span>, contrasting with teak wood that takes 30-40 years to grow.<\/p>\n

4) The resulting bamboo composite product shares similarities with teak wood<\/span> but boasts improved durability, dimensional stability, high strength, density, etc.<\/p>\n

What is The Bamboo Composite Manufacturing Technology?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1) Developed by-<\/strong> CSIR \u2013 Advanced Materials And Process Research Institute (AMPRI), Bhopal<\/p>\n

2) CSIR-AMPRI’s bamboo composite technology cuts, treats, and compacts bamboo for optimal strength and shape.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) Significance:<\/strong><\/p>\n

a. The bamboo composite can be used in various sectors, especially for aerospace<\/span>.
\nb. It has the potential to yield future products akin to wood but with a harvest cycle ten times faster.<\/span>
\nc. The technology has the potential to attract micro, small, and medium enterprises, startups, etc., contributing to achieving sustainable goals like Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Swasth Bharat Abhiyaan, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.<\/p>\n

What are The Different Policy Measures Implemented by The Government to Encourage Bamboo Sector?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

National Bamboo Mission<\/strong>: The National Bamboo Mission was launched in 2006-07 as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme<\/span> to promote the growth of bamboo sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is The India International Science Festival (IISF)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
