The Odisha state government is planning to introduce Sambar and Gaur (bison) to the Chandaka-Dampara wildlife sanctuary.<\/p>\n

\n2. The flora is moderately diverse, blending evergreen and deciduous elements.<\/span>
\n3. Despite falling under the semi-evergreen forest zone, the interplay of biotic factors has altered the original vegetation character.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Flora<\/strong><\/td>\nBankapasia (Kydia calycina),\u00a0 Gandhana (Premna mucronata), Dhaman (Grewia Tiliaefolia)<\/span>,Kansa (Hymenodictyon excelsum),Jamu (Syzyggium Cuminii),\u00a0 Kusum (Schleichera oleosa),<\/span> Sidha (Lagerstroemia parviflora), Karanja, Thorny bamboo<\/span> etc.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Fauna<\/strong><\/td>\nElephants<\/span>, barking deer, Wild Boar, Rhesus Monkey<\/span>, Pangolin, Sloth Bear, Indian Wolf, Hyena and other mammals.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

About Indian Gaur or Bison<\/h2>\n

1) Indian Gaur or Bison is the largest species among the wild cattle and the Bovidae.<\/p>\n

2) Habitat:<\/strong> Indian Bisons are mostly found in the hilly parts of the Western Ghats region<\/span> such as Bandipur, Wayanad and Mudumalai.<\/p>\n

3) State Animal:<\/strong> Gaur is the state animal of Goa and Bihar.<\/p>\n

4) Conservation Status:<\/strong>
