Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise Cyclone<\/strong>, A 25-member Indian Army contingent has arrived in Egypt for the 2nd edition of India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise, CYCLONE. It will be conducted at Anshas, Egypt from January 22 to February 1, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Exercise CYCLONE?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Aspect<\/strong><\/td>\nDetails<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
About<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is a Joint Special Forces exercise between India and Egypt.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Aim<\/strong><\/td>\nTo enhance mutual understanding of operational protocols for desert\/semi-desert Special Operations<\/span> under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
First Edition<\/strong><\/td>\n2023 (India)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Features of 2nd Edition<\/strong><\/td>\n1. The Indian contingent is being represented by troops from The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces).<\/span>
\n2. Egyptian contingent is being represented by Egyptian Commando Squadron and Egyptian Airborne Platoon.
\n3. The Exercise will involve planning and execution of special operations in sub conventional domain<\/span> and will be<\/span> conducted in three phases.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Significance<\/strong><\/td>\n1. It will provide an opportunity to both the contingents to strengthen their bond and share best practices<\/span>.
