The COP28 was held in Dubai, UAE. The most significant outcome of the Summit has been the operationalisation of the <strong>Loss and Damage Fund<\/strong>. For the first time, countries have <strong>formally acknowledged the role of fossil fuels in global warming<\/strong>. Simultaneously, the focus has been on expansion of renewable energy as well as adaptation measures. However, critics have lamented the <strong>lack of ambitious climate action<\/strong>. No timeline has been set for phase-out of fossil fuels. For the Loss and Damage Fund, no commitment has been made regarding the funding, and the principle of <strong>Common But Differentiated Responsibilities<\/strong> (CBDR) <strong>has been diluted<\/strong>.
